熬过碎碎念的老人家电影的开头，你会觉得电影越来越有趣。黑白配的老年夫妻打算卖掉生活40年的房子去买另一套。电影开始，视为儿子的狗狗生病住院，高昂的手术费让二个角色显现个性，老太太碎念小任性，老先生迁就迎合。电影穿插的房产经纪人角色，滑稽的带着职业微笑，让影片节奏明快。场景一直穿插着一个有着伊斯兰国家血统的美国年轻小伙子被白人世界持续的当做恐怖分子跟拍追踪，连着房价都受到他的影响。这个桥段恰恰是老先生几十年前所经历过的。当年黑白配的婚姻，顶着世俗的极大压力。他知道种族歧视的滋味，就像现在美国人对伊斯兰国家的态度。当老太太又任性的时候，老爷爷心情就和观众是一样的，为什么我们要离开深爱的小家呢。结尾的，作为亲戚的房产经纪人终于对他们不再友善。而狗狗却站起来了，和他们幸福的生活在一起。
